About
Welcome to the vibrant world of Chicken Latino, a gem nestled in the heart of Pittsburgh at 2100 Broadway Ave, Beechview. This authentic Peruvian restaurant is the creation of Chef Shelbin Santos, who pours her heart and passion into every dish. With an imported wood-fired brick oven from Peru, she offers a dining experience that transports you straight to South America with each flavorful bite.
As you step inside, you're met with a warm atmosphere and a sense of community. It’s no wonder that locals like Leaf Williams have made this their go-to spot for both casual lunches and group feasts, praising the consistent quality of the food and the personable service. The plates here are known for their generous portions, making sharing a delightful option to explore the diverse menu.
The Peruvian Classic rotisserie chicken is a must-try. Marinated overnight in secret seasonings, it's roasted to juicy perfection, offering a flavor that resonates through each tender bite. It comes with a delicious house-made spicy green chili sauce that enhances the dish's profile, making it indispensable for your meal. Many patrons, like Halie Girgash, rave about the chicken and highlight the freshness and quality of the sides. The yuca and fried plantains are seasoned expertly, adding a delightful crunch and sweetness.
Beyond the rotisserie chicken, the lomo saltado shines brightly. This traditional dish combines savory beef stir-fry with a unique blend of Peruvian and Asian influences, served over crispy fries and fragrant rice. Another crowd favorite is the burrito, filled generously with flavorful ingredients. As Cambita Feliz noted, these massive portions are both affordable and delicious, making Chicken Latino perfect for any appetite.
Drinks like the traditional Inka Cola and chicha morada complement the meals beautifully, providing both refreshment and a taste of Peruvian culture. And don’t forget to save room for dessert—try the rich tres leches cake for a sweet, velvety finale to your meal.
At Chicken Latino, the combination of authentic flavors, generous portions, and a welcoming atmosphere creates an unforgettable dining experience that is not just a meal; it’s a celebration of Peruvian cuisine. Whether you’re a longtime fan of South American dishes or a curious newcomer, Chicken Latino is sure to delight your palate and leave you wanting more.
“ Without a doubt, one of the most special places in Pittsburgh. This has become my go-to neighborhood spot. Whether it’s just to pick up lunch, or for a large order with friends, the food is consistent and wonderful. Service is always so personable and respectful. The work the chef does is just spectacular and something to really be applauded. In my opinion, this restaurant is every bit as great as places that are getting James Beard nominations in Pittsburgh. It truly respects city is such a beautiful way. Get extra green sauce, trust me. ”
“ This will be a new favorite for us! If you like traditional South American comfort food Chicken Latino is going to be a favorite of yours too! We had the carnitas and their Peruvian Classic rotisserie chicken. We also enjoyed their fried yucca with spicy Verde sauce and (of course) fried Plantains! Yum! Service was exceptional--friendly, quick! We look forward to going back! ”
“ The plates are massive. Very affordable, the burrito was tasty. The quesadilla that I ordered could easily feed 2-3 people. ”
“ Great place for a good meal, the portion sizes are pretty good, so I suggest sharing a few items to get the full range of the menu. Their Peruvian chicken is one of the best in the city, so definitely try it. Amazing food, and a great atmosphere. ”
“ Chicken Latino, an authentic Peruvian restaurant located on Broadway Avenue in Beechview, serves contemporary Peruvian cuisine inspired by a fusion of flavors from around the world. Chef, owner, and manager Shelbin Santos is the sweetest woman and incredibly talented in the kitchen. She even imported a special wood-fired brick oven from Peru, allowing her to cook signature dishes in a truly authentic Peruvian style. The food is absolutely fantastic! While there, I had the chance to try a variety of dishes. To start, we quenched our thirst with traditional Peruvian Inka Cola, a popular and delicious fruity drink with hints of coconut, banana, and pineapple—refreshing and unique! We also tried chicha morada, a traditional and healthy purple corn juice that is both sweet and flavorful. As we browsed the incredible menu, we snacked on warm, freshly made corn tortilla chips with salsa—an irresistible start! For the main dishes, the lomo saltado was a standout. This traditional Peruvian-Asian beef stir fry, served with white rice over fries, was bursting with flavor. The chicken quesadilla was massive—a 12" tortilla stuffed with chicken, rice, beans, and Mexican cheese, served with sour cream and salsa. It was the biggest, cheesiest, most satisfying quesadilla I’ve ever had! One of the highlights of the meal was the Peruvian-style rotisserie chicken, a staple of their menu. The chicken is marinated overnight in their secret seasonings and roasted to perfection in the authentic brick oven. Served with house-made spicy green chili sauce, it was juicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Their green chili sauce is so fresh and tasty that they even sell it by the bottle! We ordered the rotisserie chicken combo, which allowed us to sample some of their signature sides—rice and beans, plantains, and yuca—all incredibly fresh and well-prepared. Their burritos are also huge, with various filling options. I opted for chicken, which was stuffed inside a soft tortilla with rice, beans, and Mexican cheese—all for under 10! Talk about a steal! To top it all off, I was surprised with a slice of their tres leches cake, a rich and moist three-milk cake topped with caramel and strawberries. It was the perfect sweet ending to an incredible meal. If you're looking for authentic Peruvian flavors, generous portions, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, Chicken Latino is a must-visit! ”
“ I received some of the best customer service of any Pittsburgh restaurant at this place. And, the food was some of the best Latin American food I’ve had in a while as well. I got to try out their Peruvian chicken combo meal with chicken, yellow rice, beans, sweet plantains, yucca fries, and spicy green sauce, as well as their tres leches cake. Everything was delicious. The chicken was very juicy and flavorful. Perfectly cooked, and not too fatty at all. The yucca fries were still crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and went perfectly with the green sauce, which was (as they said) quite spicy. The sweet plantains were also delicious and came in a great portion. Caramel iced well and thoroughly cooked. I like that they kept the beans separate, and they were really good as well. Almost fully melted in a way, that’s how creamy they seemed. Went well with the rice, which was soft but a bit plain. The tres leches was one of the best tres leches I’ve had in Pittsburgh. So soft, sweet, and delicate. The perfect amount of each of the milks. And, it looked pretty beautiful as well. All in all, I highly recommend this place. One of the hidden gems of Beechview. Very nice owner, great customer service, amazing food and great portions. ”
“ Chicken Latino has the best authentic chicken burritos in the city. Nothing frilly or unnecessary. Great homemade guacamole, spicy green sauce, and everything. You won't be disappointed. ”
“ These guys are great! I was on a bike ride with my new pup and decided to stop by for a snack. The server was phenomenal and even brought out a water bowl for the puppy. I ordered a delicious quesadilla and they even grilled up some chicken for the lil girl! ”
